Air Conditioning Options

As you probably know, the Australian summertime can be extremely hot. When I moved to Australia from England, I knew it would be warm, but I wasn't ready for the intense heat. I had bought a home on the outskirts of Sydney. It was a great place but unfortunately, it didn't have an HVAC system. I moved in during the winter time, so this wasn't a problem. However, when the weather began to warm up, the interior of my home became very uncomfortable. I called in an HVAC contractor who explained my options before installing a modern HVAC system which keeps my house nice and cool.

4 Reasons to Consider a Ceiling Cassette Air Conditioner

by Herminia Lopez

In most parts of the country, having an air conditioning system is practically a necessity if you're to survive the hot summer months in comfort. You'll mostly find those units fitted either to a wall or along the floor, but you can also opt for a ceiling cassette air conditioner.

As the name implies, these are mounted on the ceiling rather than the wall or floor. Apart from their location, they work just like regular split units that link to an outdoor compressor, and they offer several benefits that can make them a great option for many homeowners.

Here are just four reasons to consider fitting a ceiling cassette air conditioner.

1. Frees Up Usable Space

One of the best things about ceiling cassette air conditioners is that they take up space that you're almost certainly not already using. In contrast, wall space is often used for hanging pictures and other decorations, and floorspace can be required for anything from fittings to furniture. By installing a ceiling cassette air conditioner, you can make full use of all available floor and wall space.

2. Evenly Distributes Cool Air

When you fit an air conditioning unit in a wall or along the floor, it's generally impossible to get it in the centre of a room. However, ceiling-mounted air conditioners can be fitted right in the centre of a room, and that means cool air will be distributed evenly as it falls from the ceiling and replaces the hot air rising up. As such, you won't need to worry about one spot in a room getting too cool while another doesn't feel cool enough. This isn't just great for your everyday comfort — it also means you won't need to run your air conditioner as often, so you should save on your energy bills.

3. Ideal for Cooling Larger Rooms

The fact that ceiling cassette air conditioners can be mounted more centrally is complemented by the fact that they can be fitted with very powerful fans. As such, even larger rooms can be efficiently cooled by a single ceiling cassette air conditioner. If you need to cool a larger living room or entrance way, a ceiling cassette air conditioner can be a good fit.

4. Quiet Operation

When you install a ceiling cassette air conditioner, the second unit will be located outside, which means you will barely be able to hear them while running. This is one reason ceiling cassette air conditioners are often installed in offices, but that near silent operation can be just as attractive for homeowners.
